North Rome Christian School 10th Annual Auction!

The past auctions have been held at the Williams Oil Five Star building at the intersection of Rte 6 and 187, thanks to the generosity of Randy Williams. Auctioneer Howard Visscher, his wife Carol, and son Bill have been a part of this event since its inception and NRCS greatly appreciates the donation of their time , efforts and talents. |
The auction event has expanded throughout the years to include the following:
- A. Live Auction – new and used large ticket items such as furniture, cars, motorcycles, gift certificates, classroom baskets, etc.
- B.Silent Auction – at least three silent auctions are held every 1 ½ hours apart throughout the day. Each auction has approximately 100 items for bidders to view and then place their silent bid. The auction can become very intense the last few minutes as everyone scrambles to get in their last bid.
- C.Yard Sale – Items that are smaller and may take too long to auction off make it to our yard sale. Last year we had 5 tents and “goodies” to sell which brought in about $3,000.
- D.Children’s Area – There are fun activities such as games, a bounce house, horseback rides by the Happy Trails ministerial team, a water mister to keep everyone cool on hot days, and lots more.
The auction proceeds help to cover some of the expenses that tuition does not cover. A portion of the fundraiser also goes into the NRCS Scholarship Fund to help families with tuition assistance. We are grateful to all the parents, grandparents, staff and most importantly, the community members who attend this event and contribute to its success.
All contributions are most welcome. You may donate items to the auction by calling the school at 247-2800. NRCS has a holding spot and we are able to take donations throughout the year. We are able to pick up items if we have advance notice. Large ticket items are appreciated ahead of time so that we have an opportunity to advertise them.
Are you interested in donating, but need some suggestions? Here are some ideas that might interest you:
- Can you cook? Provide a dessert or bread of the month. Cater a meal. Provide cooking lessons for children. Donate a subscription to a gourmet cooking magazine.
- Are you artistic? Donate one of your pieces. Provide art lessons for children. Faux paint a room. Provide a senior picture photography package.
- Do you sew or knit? Knit a scarf. Make dress-up costumes. Stitch a quilt. Donate custom window treatments.
- Do you or a grandparent have a vacation home, time share, or boat? Consider use of these for a vacation or a day retreat.
